Default Powerpoint attachments not opening

Please Login to Remove!

Within the last few weeks, we've lost the ability to open Powerpoint attachments on the Blackberry. All other attachments open fine however. I checked that ppt is still listed as an extension in the Attachment Server tab in the BES config panel. I've unchecked it and checked it back off again.

This is the error the BES gives when testing the attachment server with a Powerpoint file:

"The conversion is failed for the file."

This is the error given on the Blackberry (both 3.6 and 4.0):

"An unknown error was encountered."

Any ideas?

I've tried various presentations, including ones that I know worked in the past. The attachment server test will not convert the files. Very odd.

I've had that problem since going to SP1 and my carrier says it's a known problem that would be fixed in SP2. Hopefully SP2 will be out soon.

Default New software for viewing PowerPoint attachments

A company called Impatica is apparently releasing a new product next week that will let you view full featured PowerPoint attachments with animations, graphs, etc. I've seen Beta and it looks great. Only catch is that you have to be on a BES. www.impatica.com

Opening anything on a BB is just painful. I just tell people "It just doesn't really work that well, you probably should just wait till you get back to your PC to open something more than a picture"

I take it you had HF1 on your BES? That's odd since I had Hot Fix 2 and it was still broken.

I have HF 2 also and it doesn't work. There was a knowledge article posted on 7/13 that states to roll back to SP1 HF1 to resolve this. Hopefully SP2 did fix it, but I'll have to wait for next Tues, our maintenance night, to install it.

I had several installs done for customers that had SP1, hf 1 and hf 2 installed and none could open ppt attachments. I upgraded one of the smaller ones to SP2 yesterday and they can now open ppt attachments.

Dear All,

I am new to BB devices and BES and have been asked to support it. I suppose SP2 you mentioned above is for BES.

Regards
