Default Track ball selecting randomly

Please Login to Remove!

For some reason my trackball is randomly selecting things on its own. normally it would just be an inconvenience, but due to the fact that it will click itself multiple times in the span of a few seconds it makes it almost impossible to use the phone.

For example, if I try to unlock my phone while the trackball is acting up I get halfway through the password and the the trackball will click itself and I get the incorrect password warning, which then leads to the lock down after multiple attempts. If I try to make a call it will constantly mute and then un-mute over and over again.

I don't know if this is a software problem or a hardware problem. If anyone is having the same problem or has any ideas how to fix it, any information would be greatly appreciated. If it's software how to I update it and if it's hardware, where do i go to replace it?

Multiple times with no effect. I've looked around on the internet and haven't really found anyone with the same problem. I also looked at possible water damage which also gave me no answers.

Has the device been dropped or been exposed to moisture? What do the indicators on the device and on the battery show?

To my knowledge the phone hasn't gone through any physical trauma or moisture. The battery has also been recently switched out so that indicator is useless and I have yet to find where the other indicator actually is. The phone will work just fine at times but its just when the track ball starts acting up that is the problem.

I decided to take apart the track ball assembly by removing the small plastic ring that holds it into place, and now I've decided there isn't anything wrong with the trackball itself, but it's either the sensor that reads the pressure when you click on the trackball or it's the software that runs that because even with the trackball removed it still gives me the same problem
