Default 8310 on order. Work ok with 10.5 ?

I'm getting my very first Blackberry this week. It should be here wed/thursday. Its the 8310. I'm just curious what I'm up against to get this thing working good with my mac. Two things I realllly wanna be able to do is
1: Send photos from the Blackberry to my mac easily. 2: Put music/video on to the blackberry. I got a memory stick along with the blackberry at the time. I already no that the video will have to be in a specific format etc just like other phones, ipods, etc.. The other thing I'm curious about is tethering the 8310 to my mac for internet access. Is this possible ? I no I would have to pay for the plan. Also some friends were telling me to update the os once I get it if its not already. How easy is this? Can I do it from the device or only when connected to a computer?.

Sorry for all the questions. Just figured the more I can figure out before it arrives the better. Thanks in advance!

Missing Sync for Blackberry works great on Mac. As far as the memory card, you can view it like a flash drive.

I followed the Tethering FAQ exactly and was tethered in less than 5 minutes.
