8310 as Modem with Leopard

I am trying to make the switch to Mac. I am on an Exchange Server, so I have no need for synchronization with Entourage. I now have an iMac. Using Parallels with Desktop Manager installed under XP, I can connect my BB 8310 (AT&T Wireless) and update the OS, Synch third party programs (like Cryptmagic), etc.
Here is the problem. I would like to replace my laptop with a Macbook (maybe an Air). But, I also want to be able to know I can get an internet connection anywhere, using the BB 8310 as a modem (either via USB or Bluetooth). I am on AT&T Wireless.
Is there any way to do this? One thought I had was to install Parallels and XP on the laptop, and tether under Windows, just as I do on my Windows lapop now, but I am no sure whether the "Mac" side will be able o "see" the connection. Also, I prefer not to install Parallels on the laptop.
Is there any way to do what I want under Leopard? I have tried searching, but have come up with nothing definitive regarding my setup.
