Default Playbook Chinese Support, video to iPad

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Googling has not been able to tell me in real-time whether RIM has added Chinese language support to their playbook.

Because of this, my wife in China wants an iPad.

Can anybody tell me:
1) Is there Chinese language support yet.
2) Can a playbook video call an iPad.

I'm confused. RIM seems determined not to sell the Playbook. I mean, how could they neglect something as basic as Chinese language support?

Of course, maybe I, given the problems with the ringer on my 9000 bold should give up on RIM too.

Seems this forum is useless. :(.

Anyway, apparently Playbook supports Skype and apple is preventing their device from calling other ones.

You are free to find another forum to answer about your specific chinese language questions.

I think your should find another forum and a vendor that suits your specific needs.

Still doesn't have chinese support?

I already bought a 9000 and now a playbook

I would have bought a playbook for my wife too but wihtout chinese support, she wanted the ipad.

Truth be told, I like blackberry for the most part.

No, I am not suggesting that since you said "seems this forum is useless" (a direct quote) you find a more useful forum.

I am happy you like the blackberry.

Well, apologies. I've used the forum to answer several questions that have in fact been extremely helpful but I was getting frustrated in the difficulty to determine compatibility support and language support between tablets.

I can't objectively say how I feel about my tablet yet. My wife is already up and running with her iPad.

I'm trying to get connected at the moment. I'm more used a standard key board.

That's good, I'm glad you could find some help.

Nobody here has any special knowledge. The board isn't associated with RIM. If RIM employees read or post I have never seen anyone so identified. If you want a more definitive answer you can always try the official BlackBerry Forum site.

I've just bought a play book for my wife, who is Chinese. Out of the box, Chinese is not supported, in that you can't view the user interface in Chinese or enter Chinese text, although I understand that websites containing Chinese text will display properly. There is a Chinese IME (Input Method Editor) in the app world, but you have to pay for it.

Poor show from RIM on this, I can't think of any other OS where you'd need to pay for an IME. Mac OS X included free, Windows free, Linux free obviously, Android free, IOS - don't know for sure, but would be surprised if it wasn't free.
