Did you edit the Blackberry.alx file, like for themes, etc.? If so, you likely made an error while editing. I've seen this many times when an error is made in the blackberry.alx file. Regardless, reinstall the OS to the PC and give it another shot. That should fix it.

Thank you. I must have made an error somewhere in the editing. I uninstalled the software, reinstalled it, deleted the vendor file and modified the blackberry.alx file correctly this time, and it appears to be working. 1/2 way through the updating now.
Thanks you!
I meant thank you to both Corey and John.

Upgrading to OS 4.5
I read your instruction for upgrading to OS 4.5 on my 8330 at the top of this thread, but you didn't mention anything about backing up third party applications, uninstalling prior OSs from the PC, or wiping the handheld. Are these steps necessary.

When you do an upgrade, the first step of the process is to do a backup (including 3rd party and over the air applications), then it wipes out the BB, loads the OS, loads applications, loads data and then takes quite a while to reboot.
It's all in there.

As NJ said, the process is all automatic. If you're concerned about losing 3rd party apps (only happens if the upgrade goes awry) you can back them up manually using this method:

List of fixes/enhancements?

Before you decide to change, from my observation about 4.5.0.66 on US Cellular is no different from beta version. Same file name, size and rel 90. Going to keep my 4.5.0.77. Rel 101. Looks to be downgrade.

If it has the same version number, it's the very same OS. Makes no difference if it's "beta" or not. The only difference between "beta" and official is that it's released.

Not all emails come in html. They have to be sent in html coding. Also, only new emails will display html.

Didn't you know? That is the user's job to find all the enhancements and fixes, as well as the bugs.
That is all part of the excitement of owning a Blackberry!
