Default SMS Text how to turn off "feature"

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just got the Bold 9700 ver.2 from att and am NOT liking the way it keeps the history of text messages. They are saying it's like IM'ing. Basically when you get a text message and open it it shows all the previous text messages to/from that person directly underneath!

I have looked at all the options and don't see a way to turn this off. Please tell me there is a way to get rid of this "feature".

Thanks

The threaded SMS "feature" is the way it is in OS 5.x. You cannot turn it off.

<spleen vent>

This is getting funny. For years people complained about how the BlackBerry SMS messaging sucked, how it was not "advanced" like this phone or that one. After all of the clamoring for threaded SMS, RIM put it in v5.x of their phone OS... now suddenly people are crawling out of the woodwork complaining about the threaded SMS.

It just goes to show you that you can't please everyone.

The question in my mind was, why didnt RIM add it as opposed to change to?
A simple option in the menu would have been just as easy surely?

I'm not a programmer...

But I'd bet it's more involved than just an "option"

Hmmn, not really... you can see the 'old view', just go to folder..sms inbox and hey presto, only the inbound sms are shown. However the default view is threaded and this can't be changed. All they would need to do is allow you to choose the folder you want as default.. doesn't seem particularly difficult. If RIM don't, I'm sure someone will write a small app to do it.

i love it threaded personally. it basically organises things for you into contacts, not just chronological order.
