How do I replace it? Verizon was no help.

Not sure why you would think that the carrier should help with physical damage to the device. ??

I accpet the blame for breaking it. When I say they were no help, they do not even have an option for fixing it. All they could offer was to sell me a new or used replacment.

Yeah, the carriers typically do not repair devices.

So it sounds like they offered you the standard assistance.
