I have the bb8330 and when i sent a message to someone in bb messenger the letter "A" appeared over the checkmark....what does this mean?

Are you sure it's an A. D = Delivered R = Read.

yeah im positive...i sent the messages to someone who has the blackberry world and they are traveling in europe right now...i don't know if that has something to do with it??

I see this on my Bold in BB Messenger. I think it indicates they are typing to you "A"ctive maybe? only from the contact view. When in convo it states Contact is typing...

Based on Rim's documentation, "A" does not exist. Below is the messaage flow. Want to bet Rim changed something and did not document it.

D1 - Adds a Contact using a personal identification number (PIN)

D1 > SEND request

D1 - contact PIN appears in Pending category

D2 < Message received in Requests Category

D2 - Opens request and Accepts

D2 > SEND Acceptance

D1 - PIN moves to Contacts category

D1 - PIN changes to D2 Instant Messenger (IM) Name

D1 > SEND IM Name

D2 - Contact appears in Contacts Category

D2 - Selects the D1 contact

D2 - Start Conversation

D2 - Starts typing message

D2 > SEND status "D2 is typing a message"

D1 < RECEIVE status "D2 is typing a message" but does not display as no conversation is open

D2 - now select to send the message

D2 > SEND message

D1 < RECEIVE message and conversation is now open

D1 - opens conversation

D1 > SEND read message status

D2 < RECEIVE message status R

D2 - all outstanding messages of status D (delivered) in the conversation change to R (received)

D1 - Starts typing

D1 > SEND status "D1 is typing a message"

D1 - a 30 second counter is reset every time the keyboard is used

D1 - Does not type anything for 30 seconds

D1 > SEND status clear, which removes "D1 is typing a message"

D2 < SEND status clear

D2 - the status line is now hidden

You will get "A" depending on the font size. I've seen that before. It's supposed to be an "R"
