Guys,

Can anyone shed light on a bizarre message that appeared on my Bold just now? There's a golden globe icon that appeared right up the top-left of the homescreen (the globe looks like the icon for the default browser, but golden) with the number '1' next to it, and in my messages folder, its sitting there.

No google results, no successful searches here, please could someone tell me what type of message/virus/scam this is?

Go into your messages and press the menu key, go to view folders. Then check your browser and WAP folders. See if you see anything in there.

OK...it shows up when I followed your advice under a folder called 'WAP Push Messages'

Not sure I understand what you mean. If you're asking whether the golden globe disappeared from my home-screen, then no, it's still there. I guess its just unwanted spam then? If so, any idea how I can prevent ever receiving junk like this in the future?

Open the message in your WAP push messages folder, or highlight it press the menu key and mark it as read.

It will disappear.
