I have the following issue with my Bold in giving reminders for calendar entries:

- Active profile is configured in and out of holster to play a tone
- Calendar alert is set to 5 minutes

Calendar entry time arrives and there is no visual/tone alert at all.

What could I be doing wrong? I've had my bold around 1 month and it has never given me a notifcation for calendar items.

In the calendar item, is there any entry in the field for "Reminder"? If yes, what is written there?

I set my reminders as 5 or 10 minutes for example. Yes I've done a battery pull as I've had my BlackBerry for many weeks and have never once had a calendar reminder audio or visual notification. My alarms however do work.

There is a sticky thread at the top of the forum for maximized memory and involves removing COD files from the BlackBerry.

What OS are you running? Options -> About.

I'm on 4.6.0.162 (4.0.0.155)

My BlackBerry is basically as standard from factory as supplied by o2uk. Only basic apps installed like Facebook, Windows msgr, Flickr, Viigo. I've checked all my profile settings and calendar options to no avail :(

Hmm.. Not too sure other then re-creating the profile.

Has it always been like this?

We can try to update the OS, I would check the Bold forum for the latest OS release.

OS is 4.6.0.162 (4.0.0.155). Do I lose anything by upgrading the OS?

I've had my Bold since early October and it's never given a calendar alert.

Now you shouldn't lose anything during an OS update, before the desktop manager updaes the OS it created a backup and restores it when finished.

Just to be on the safe I usually do a manual backup before I perform the OS update just to be on the safe side.

Note: If you have any 3rd party software you will have to re-enter the registration codes again.

Hmm, looks like 4.6.0.162 is the latest OS available from O2 UK.

So you next option is to install an OS from either another carrier or a beta version. (You can check the Sticky post at the top of this forum concerning "Beta OS".

The 9000-Bold forum has a sticky post with a link to the latest official OS release, if you download that OS and install it to your computer, the next step is to search for a file called "vendor.xml" once you find it delete it. Once you delete that file plug in your Blackberry and run the application loader it will prompt you to upgrade.

Note: To play it safe (As I typically do) perform a manual backup before upgrading the OS)
