Default Sim Card Rejected?

Please Login to Remove!

Just called VZW to have my SIM enabled in my STORM to allow for Global roaming. All seems to fine on their end, my account has been provisioned, and the SIM was activated, now:

- If I switch the band to 3G 2G the STORM tells me "SIM Card Rejected" on the home screen on top of the clock; I do understand the device is locked to work on CDMA only in the US and therefore should not connect to either T Mobile or AT&T, but shouldn't I get an error more like no network found or something like that?

- If I pop the same Verizon SIM card into an unlocked Blackbery Pearl, it gives me the message "SIM not provisioned2".
- If I pop an AT&T SIM into my Storm, it will say "Invalid SIM", which is obvious considering my STORM is locked to Verizon

What could this mean? Is my Verizon SIM bad, do I need a replacement SIM card? I need to ensure it is ready to work on GSM abroad at any time as I travel frequently. Any ideas anyone?

While I have not enabled Global Roaming... I have seen the "SIM Card Rejected" at the top of my phone three times now. It goes away when I do a battery pull... but what a PITA!

So I called Verizon today... they understand that this is a software bug and assure me that the SIM Card is fine... and that for now I should go to <manage connections> <mobile network options> and under Network Technology make sure that 1XEV is chosen rather than Global...

This of course will have to be changed back when I go out of NA.

No problem with the error message since doing this... keeping my fingers crossed...
