8300 camera is worse than 8100
Please Login to Remove!
I had 8100 at first, later replaced it with 8300, and found out that 8100 took much better pictures at superfine mode. Did anyone else notice the same thing? I found that 8100 quality was much sharper than 8300.

I wouldn't say better. Once in my iPhoto they are equally bad even el-cheapo camera @ $99.00 is more rewarding. But, then again, I didn't spend $400 on the Curve for photo quality...

While I agree, I would expect 8300 to have better camera than 8100.
I still like the BB's camera better than many other phone-cams I had.

Ha!
8100 < 8300 - Problem solved
Really, a camera on a phone is well... just a convenience item. If you need a quick picture, it's great to have it with you to do that. For serious photo's whip out your 10 megapixel..

I find the camera on my Curve to be much better than the camera on my Pearl. That said none of them would ever replace my digital camera, but it's nice to have a camera on the BlackBerry for those spur of a moment pictures.

I actually think the 8300 camera is pretty good. I used an 8100 on T-Mo and don't remember it being significantly better/worse.
You can look at my Flickr account and see a lot of 8300 pictures (be sure to look at the "Taken with" notation because I have some that were either from my Nikon or Sprint Mogul.

To the OP....have you checked do see if there is dust and or smudges over or under the camera protector? This really throws my pearl off and I have to take the battery cover off and clean now and then.

Thanks, I also do that all the time. My curve is only 20 days old and doesn't have that much dust, however it surely feels that Pearl took much sharper pix than my Curve. Anyway, of course it is still great for regular phone camera. When resized, it gets nice sized shots.
I am starting a topic for people to post their pictures. (not sure if we had one before)

think it was actually a high speed chase, just up the road there was a side swiped car, and there were police dogs running around the upside down truck

With it's higher resolution, the Curve's camera is much more sensative to shaking. You've gotta be real stable to get a clear, sharp pic on the Curve.

I completely agree that the 8300 camera in my eyes is better than the 8100. I get OK results with the Curve as long as there is A LOT OF light. Usable, as mentioned above for fun and spur of the moment.
Also I find the LED light on the Curve more effective than that pseudo flash on the Pearls.

I agree completely. I was immediately impressed when switching from the pearl to the curve camera. The flash is also MUCH better.
