Default 8830 from Bell on Rogers?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone, Posting here on behalf of my friend...

My friend got a Blackberry 8830 that is on the Bell Mobility network (CDMA), here in Canada.

My friend is currently on the Rogers network (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) with a 7800.

What has to be done to the 8830 so that he can use it on his existing Rogers account to replace his 7800?

TIA

The CDMA based 8830 cannot be used on a North American GSM carrier.
The GSM bands on the 8830 only work outside of North America.

What about getting it unlocked? Would that do anything?

No. As mentioned, the hardware does not support north American GSM. It will not work, and cannot be modified to work.

North America use 850mHz and 1900mHz

Everyone else uses 900 and 1800

the 8830s GSM radio is for 900 and 1800

therefore cannot be use here
