Thumbs up 8130 Pearl Survival Story!

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, so we see lots of "this is how my BB died" threads, so I thought I would post a survival story to brighten everyones day... This happened exactly one week ago...

I was at the fire hall washing my truck, when I realized my BB was in my pocket... Didn't want it to get wet, so I took it out of my pocket and put it on the extended front bumper of one of out pumpers (it has a huge front bumper cause there's a booster line in it, so it's probably over a foot at a half wide)...

Anyway, just as I got done washing my truck and pulling it away one of the other guys was there and said he was going to take "2" (the one pumper) to fuel it up... I didn't think anything of it, so I say "sure, I'll prolly be here when you get back."

He gets back about 20 minutes or so later... I walk past the truck and see the empty bumper and it dawns on me..!! I ask him "dude, did you by chance take my phone (and sunglasses) off the bumper before you left??" He responds with something like "nope, shouldn't have been there..." A very good point, but didn't help me any!

I hang my head and say "well, $h!t! I'll be back!!"

I drive about half a mile down the road and catch a glimpse of something black on the sidewalk.. I pull over, and sure enough it's my pearl in the pouch!!!

Now, for it to end up on the sidewalk it would have had to bounce over the curb and through the grass (thank god, I never would have found it in the grass!) anyway, other than a couple dings on the top corners where the pouch wasn't protecting it, it looks and works perfectly fine!!

So, there's my little tale of BB survival! My glasses didn't make it nearly as far, they were at the end of parking lot, but in fine order as well, lol!!

He left his blackberry on the front bumper of one of the firetrucks, while washing it. The front bumper on an engine or a pumper is extended out to house the front water/booster line connection and spare hoses, they make awesome areas to set stuff in temporarily. Then another firefighter left in that fire truck to go fuel it up and the phone fell off in transit. The thread OP went to go look for it and found it on the sidewalk down the road, in working condition.

Heck, here at our fire station if you leave something on the truck and another leaves with the truck...both get in trouble. The person that left the item, and the person that left in the equipment without properly inspecting it.
