Good grief, newbie here, playing around withmy new 9650. I loaded google maps and I think it has a gps thing happening that is wearing my battery down. I can't figure out how to disable it....
Also, I downloaded crunchSMS but how do I make it my default for texting?

Its not the GPS, but perhaps Google maps is running in the background, draining your battery.
Menu - EXIT or Menu - Close from within the application will stop it running in the background.

And yes Midnight, you can. Set your firewall permissions, and you stop getting texts to the native BB app.
