Default Phone won't boot.. Upgrade failed...

Please Login to Remove!

Think I may be screwed....

K, so I was upgrading my 8130 to the new VZW 4.5.0.77 that just came out... Anyway, it was writing to the phone and my computer shut off, completely, so obviously the upgrade didn't finish...

Now... My phone is just stuck with the hour glass on bootup, doesn't go any further... Is there ANY way out of this? Battery pull did nothing, and BB Desktop Manager doesn't see the phone connected, so I can't try the upgrade again or a restore!!??

Any ideas (special boot modes, etc...) would be GREATLY appreciated!

Just as I was getting ready to post this, I got an app error.. Just a blank white screen that says App Error with a Reset option, please tell me there's a way past this, lol!!??

Thanks,

-Corey

Thanks, but I'm proud I found that already ... Search really does work, lol...

Wanna know the ironic part of all this!?

I've upgraded to multiple beta OS's, etc... No problems... This time I try the Verizon update, and the thing explodes, go figure!

Moral of the story... If it's legit, don't F WITH IT!!! haha...

Hmm.. Still not booting properly... Could it be because I've modified those files to remove Verizon themes, etc... Do I need to revert something on my PC itself back to allow the verizon 4.5 to function correctly?

I'm at a loss, and sweating bullets as I do Fire and Rescue and get most of my dispatch information via SMS from the County Dispatcher, lol...

Thanks,

-Corey

Think I got it, may want to add this to the bottom of the one link I posted... I say and let it keep trying to boot for a while, and would do nothing.. As soon as I disconnected it from USB it booted... Coincidence.. Maybe, but just something to think about...

-Corey

P.S. never realized how addicted I was to my blackberry until now, lol!!

I dont want to hijack yuor post but do you guys know if deleting OS with jlcmder and reinstalling OS will make more memory available that only wiping using jlcmder ?

I'll have to wipe it this week end since I change job (want a fresh start on my BB as well) and I was wondering what is the best option..

Wiping with JL_cmder completely wipes the device, akin to formatting a hard drive on a PC. It will clear all the space, and then you load the OS fresh.

This is a tricky question, because believe it or not, phones have been able to acquire spyware and adware for a while now - and will gather it over time if you use your phone's browser improperly (prono). This takes up memory.

Also, you have to think of what programs you have installed on your phone. They also take up memory.

I guess the correct answer to your post would be, yes (in most cases).

Wiping your phone clean deletes everything, as if you were formatting a PC harddrive. Everything is lost, viruses, spyware, the OS, and other apps.

If your phone has nothing but the OS, and you are wiping it to make way for an Updated OS, you may actually lose memory because a newer OS may take up more space. But, if you are just wiping it to reinstall the existing OS, there is a good chance you will gain memory from the operation, but never should you lose any.

Hope this helps.

Hum.. I didn't knew one could find porno on the internet ;)

In fact, I would keep the same OS (4.5) ... I would do the jlcmder wipe + reinstall but I'm a little afraid of it... I think I'll stick to a jlcmder reset to factory (that erases everything except the OS from what I understand)
