Default WEAK handset speaker on 8130 Pearls???

Please Login to Remove!

I have very few complaints with the 8130 Pearl that I've had since January. But my biggest one has to be the regular phone speaker...the one you put right up to your ear not the speakerphone/music speaker. That one's great! But the one you put up to your ear SUCKS bad!!!

I have very good hearing. I'm not going dear or anything. I'm 30. My GF agrees with me and she's not deaf either. I always have mine cranked to full volume and it could always stand to be a little louder. This is my 2nd Pearl as the first one had a dud number "8" key, but the first one also had a speaker that wasn't loud enough.

Any one else experience this at all??

Wife and I are almost 50 and no issues on the handset volume. Best guess is you are holding it wrong or have damaged your hearing. Some people put the screen on their ear instead of the speaker hole. My son made that mistake.

I guess, me, my wife and Verizon wireless haven't gotten it either because, I returned both mines and my wife's pearls on saturday to get the mics checked and the tech didn't even bother looking at it and just ordered two replacements on the spot. My wife is back at Verizon now exchanging her replacement because they sent her a silver instead of a pink pearl. I am thinking of bringing mines back as well becuase my backlight seems yellow instead of white underneath the keyboard.

Well, your guess that I've damaged my hearing is wrong! I have my hearing tested every year as part of an OSHA health surveillance program. My hearing is rock-solid.

Yes, I understand that there is a very small margin of error for how you hold this device in order to hear it. I can hear it, but it's a pain to have to line it up exactly with your ear!!! A slight slip and you miss what the other person said. I find I hear it best when I hold the handset about 1/2" from my ear. That way you can shift it around a bit (or drive over a bump) and still hear.

Ultimately, I think the ear speaker could definitely benefit from a redesign.

Peace,
LTP
