4.1 requires more memory to run. The 7100i and 8700 series both have 64MB memory.

The Blackberry Simulator already has every Bluetooth model running running with OS 4.1.
So there is no "if" involved. It exists just not in a usable form outside of RIM yet.
The kernel in the simlulator isn't a real kernel because none of the hardware actually exists so they could release a simulator version much earlier than the real thing since they may still have to update or test device drivers for the chips in the phone.

There's some bugs in the 4.1 OS for the 7100i that are being worked out before it comes over to the 7520 - dealing with MMS, ringtones not ringing after a while and only start working again after a hard reset, etc.

I wouldn't want to use it myself till they get it more stable.

We sell quite a few 7100's and have not had any issues with "bugs". Have any specific details?

Wouldn't get released till it was. Remember that handheld code is proprietary to the network they operate on. When RIM releases device code to carriers (T-Mobile, Verizon) they test the software before they release it as well. Sometimes they get it, and never release it even though it's stable. So 4.1 software could be available for a 7100g and not the 7100t even though both carriers have the code.
ie: T-Mobile STILL doesn't have Desktop Manager v4.0 SP1 as an install when selecting certain handhelds on the web.
Keep on thumbin'...

Have to wait till it's released
4.0 looks different in appearance, not to mention wireless synchronization of Personal Information Management apps. Such as wireless sync of Contacts, Tasks, and Memo Pad.
I'm sure 4.1 won't disappoint although it's hard to top wireless synchronization of your entire Enterprise Environment. From a BES perspective that is.

IM clients in 4.1
In the current 7520, only Yahoo is available from RIM. The other IMs need to be run by third party programs......all of which, on NEXTEL, suck! Nextel uses VoIP (I think), so, when any data is being transfered, no phone calls come through and you are lucky to get a voice mail notification within 10 minutes of the call (this varies, although it is definately NOT instantaneous).....all because I have the third party IM programs (using data) running in the background. And I have tried them all.....same thing...even the beta version of Yak-On! using the new toc2 connection.
In 4.1, I know the IM programs are built in to the OS, how are they though? My profession requires the use of IM, mainly AIM and to be on it 24/7. I was on a sidekick II, although after their last software update, they made it suck (not enough memory on the device to do half the things the new software was capable of) And the rest of my family is on Nextel (radio), so it was a logical choice to get the 7520 (I truly HATE the keyboard on the 7100).
So, the real question is: Has anyone figured out a way to change the priority on the VoIP? (Not sure it is possible) Make it first priority....or come up with an IM program that operates like the Yahoo program RIM has provided(It seems to operate in very short bursts of data that do not hinder the 7520 from getting phone calls) Or is RIM coming out with a AIM version soon?
And, is the 8700 coming to Nextel? If so, are the IM programs the same as the 7100? I believe they both run OS 4.1........
Sorry for the novel, although anyone that can shed light on any of this, I would be very greatful.
Thanks,
