I have Microsoft Office 2010 with includes Outlook on Windows 7 32 bit and am syncing fine.

I use BIS...

Just passing along...

It is probably the 64 bit - which is a constant problem - I read that over and over on different forums for different software.

Sandy

Office 2010 64 bit doesn't work with ANY 32 bit applications, including those made by Microsoft. To be avoided.

Lucky girl. But I also use 32bit-versions of Win7 and Outlook and on my computer the desktop manager shows that terrible "no messagestore" error.
I'm frustrated.

You're right - I am lucky indeed... and the last thing you want to hear is that it works when you can't make it happen in your environment. Trust me I have been there many times...

But it should give you hope - because it means it is possible. I have had to wait for Desktop Manager updates to fix certain problems, problems that don't affect every user - and that might be the case here.

Being unable to sync though is a very serious problem if you are trying to operate and function on even a basic level.

Maybe try contacting RIM... they have been very helpful to me in the past. They have to deliver here because 2010 is here. And if you can't get it done - you know there are others that can't as well...

Good luck!!
Luck Sandy (this time - but not always )

Default Why Desktop Manager Doesn't Work with Outlook 64 Bit

There is an explanation of all this from Microsoft here:

Building MAPI Applications on 32-Bit and 64-Bit Platforms

Note that the specific error message is shown on this page.

My problems are with Blackberry Desktop Manager software that allows me to snyc my phone and with Adobe Acrobat Professional 9, where I used to be able to mail something direct from the program through Outlook. Like others, I believe, I installed Win 7 64 and Outlook 2010 64.

My understanding from reading this is that many of these programs built on 32 bit will run fine on the 64 bit Windows, but if they are to invoke a call to send mail, via Outlook, and if Outlook is 64 bit, these programs need to be slightly redesigned to recognize or call up Outlook 2010 64.

This is presumably why people report success by uninstalling Outlook 64 and reinstalling as 32. Desktop Manager appears to need a tweak to allow it to work with Outlook 64. Interestingly, a separate company,

Sync Android, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Palm Pre, Windows Mobile and more with Outlook, Lotus Notes, ACT!, Palm Desktop and Google | CompanionLink Software

Is selling a solution for $50 that basically allows Desktop Manager to work with Outlook 64. Hopefully, Blackberry will update the software, so those of us with Outlook 64 won't have to pay that fee or downgrade to 32.

RIM's relief on DM sync to Outlook 2010 is coming. When I don't know, but I know it's on the way. Sooner than later, I hope.

This is helpful...and encouraging, especially coming from a cognoscenti, such as JSanders. But it's also maddening. For months teaser posts have promised July 1. I never believe rumors, but common sense certainly indicates that a company that is losing market share, and RIM really is, should have "rushed" this fix, which is to say given it a priority. Which to say had it here, now. I wonder if RIM will give me a rebate on CompanionLink, the only way to keep the device current with Outlook 2010? I also wonder when the world will be covered with ice.

Look, I like the BB (9000). It does best what I need done best to keep working -- push email, instant update with desktop of all vital business data. Easy keyboard to type with quickly. Solid build. But I'm right on the edge (and at the upgrade point in my AT&T contract). RIM fits the pattern of an innovative company that became so large, it's success and size stifled its innovation and its ability to keep AHEAD of the market and technological developments (new WIN opsys, new WIN apps). Sometimes I think I should chuck my contract with AT&T, get a free phone from a carrier that does not have such reception problems, say goodbye to RIMM (Research in Mortality and Morbidity) and go back to a pen-and-paper daybook and do my email when I can get to a desktop.

A bit of a rant, I know. (Sorry for wasting the bandwidth.) Which I hope does not detract from JSanders timely, and kindly, update.

I never saw or read July 1. I have read "3Q of 2010" which should mean July Aug Sept. Let's hope it's not that late. But I feel certain you'll see this addition soon.

I think this has been posted before, but CompanionLink claims it works with Outlook 2010 and Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Haven't tried it out however.

It really is sad that RIM has not modified Desktop Manager to work with Office 2010. They had to be the only people that didn't know it was coming out in June.

I'll hang in there for a while. 64-bit machine will be here very soon. Instead of putting DM 5.x on it, then clean uninstalling and reinstalling 6.0 (I appreciate the instructions for clean uninstall on this site, but those instructions are somewhat out of date and, in any case, the routine still leaves registry entries behind that make it impossible to correct problems such as auto update unless you scrub the registry), I've installed Outlook 2003 and DM 4.6 on an old XP laptop and will daily copy over my .pst file to update (which, of course, is like going to Cleveland to get to NY from DC). But my contract with AT&T is also almost up so unless RIM gets religion soon....

Default Possibly a stupid question....

Recently my old XP desktop died - I was thinking of getting 64 bit computer but certainly don't want to start having sync trouble with my BB. I also have Office 2010.

Is the trouble on this thread because of 64 bit Office or a 64 bit computer???

Thanks,
Sandy
p.s. to mnorman - great workaround! Way to get it done

I guess I spoke too soon regarding a successful Outlook 2010 sync. One BB does fine but I can't get the calendar to sync to the other one. I banged away but got nowhere.

I reset the sync configuration and now I can't even get it to "set up" the sync. I have nothing synced to it - I have attached a print screen of the error message.

I have no idea what to do with this...

I don't think it's Office 2010 - I can't get "my" BB to sync on the other computer using Office 2007.

It appears it's my BB...
