ok.......searched. no clear answers to this one found. what exactly are "dod root certificates." in my dtm when i use app loader, this is unchecked at the moment. how does having this checked or unchecked affect my blackberry and in what way? anyone? anyone?

I appreciate the attempt at an answer. but can anyone explain ACTUALLY ANSWER my question? my question was not whether i needed it or not, but what it is and how affects my bb. again, bbtech i do appreciate the time you took in responding to my question, but if you could actually answer the question that would be even more helpful.

While working for the department of defence they use encrypted cetrificates which are enbedded on CAC card this module allows the blackberry to read the information on the card correctly so the user can actually use their handheld.
This is for high security corporations like the Department Of Defence.
Is that better?

Figured I'd bump this useful thread up. For the first time during an upgrade, I didn't install the DOD Root Certficate. I wanted to know what I didn't install. Looks like I won't miss it.

I just finished doing an upgrade on a user's BB and wasn't sure so I added it. It was only 38k and I thought it would be easier than adding it later. Now I know I don't need it for future upgrades though - thanks.
