Default Intellisync issue need your help

Please Login to Remove!

Alright I have searched high and low on the boards here for an answer but have come up with nothing similar......

I recently moved to a new computer at work and we have nothing fancy no exchange server or anything fancy.......well I installed the desktop manager software on the new machine and now my intellisync will not work, I went from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003.....

I have read around and I know you can go into "configure PIM" and change some settings, but my problem is when I go into configure PIM and my settings, the "Browse" button at the bottom, will not do anything for me. I click on the button and it depresses and then nothing it doesn't bring up a list of my folders or anything like that.........so I can't even tell it where to look for my files.

I removed the RIM folder from the C:\documents........blah blah, and now it has no record of any folder and again when I click browse it does nothing....soooo....has anyone seen this heard of it....I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times and I can't get the sync to go through successfully at all..........

If someone could help me I would appreciate it or know of a thread that may have the answer you can point me that way, as I said I did a lot of searching and could not find this same problem!!!

Thanks all!!

I would try recreating your MAPI Profile for Outlook since that is what Intellisync relies off of.

I did try to rebuild a new one and the same thing happened I was able to get into the "configure PIM" but then when I click on the browse button.......nothing......so I'm at a loss here I can't seem to pick and choose where I want it to look at....

Just wondering if anyone else has seen or heard of this.....

Unless you are syncing with a different address book/calendar/memo pad than the default one, you shouldn't need to browse at all.

Is the Folder location blank? If so, then it's not reading your mail profile/.pst correctly.

open IE and go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs and make sure that Outlook is set as default for mail, calendar, tasks, etc.

Follow this KB article to "clean uninstall DTM" and not the additional info at the bottom about registerring atl.dll:

Use this article (under cause number 3) to make sure you do not have a duplicate windows messaging subsystem. This is a very common one when dealing with outlook 2003 issues.

Thanks Zro I tried the first method and did a 100% clean install and will have to try and re-install the software sometime tomorrow to see how that goes I will keep you posted....

The other suggestion.......did not apply to me as I had only one of the windows messaging subsystems you mentioned and that was the one I was supposed to have!!

Alright I tried the steps you mentioned and to re-install it and I am still left with the following:

Notice how there is nothing filled in the Folder Name: field? And when I click on browse I get nothing no menus pop up or anything........

When I try to click OK.......I get this message:

I tried the different profiles and even clicking on options and trying the profiles I have set-up but no matter what I cannot get into the browse button and it cannot find anything......I really need to remedy this problem to get back up and running.....

Let me know if you guys know of anything again I thank you sooo much for your time and effort, it means a lot!!!

I find that recreating the Outlook profile can resolve many of the intellisync issues. I would recreate that and then blow away the PIM folders and the MAPI profile before starting desktop manager up again.

not create a new profile, recreate. the outlook profiles can get corrupted, i've had success with this before. blow out all profiles and recreate. delete the PIM folders found in C:\documents and settings\user\application data\research in motion\blackberry\intellisync...but only the folders...not the files. Then go into the registry under hkey current user>software>research in motion. delete the mapi profile in the blackberry key. then expand the blackberry key and delete the pin data subkeys then go into the synchronize key and delete the folder management value. then open desktop manager, let it choose the new profile and see if that corrects the problem.

yeah the problem I had is I went through all of those steps and it still gave me the above mentioned screenshots and I cannot choose to go anywhere else

Dawg, let me know if you get it to work maybe I did something wrong previously in trying that, I just don't want to mess with my emails all that much because I don't want to accidentally end up losing stuff

hmmmm that's weird because I have walked through a bunch of different scenarios and even what you did Dawg and came up with the same result.......it always leads me to the same 2 screens shown above.....

So.....

What is the way around this?

Have a look at these different steps... have you tried all of them?

http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...54079&vernum=0

(I know you probably have but just wanted to check you had done all the different steps...)

I have tried all the methods mentioned in the article you posted Dustbin, but thanks for posting that up for me anyway it is appreciated......

The first 4 are all methods I have looked into and tried and the 5th does not apply to me because I do not have an exchange server or anything like that.......

Anyone else have a thought?

Thanks again to all that are replying!

Are you using Outlook Business contact Manager? If so uninstall that and try it out.
