Cool Russian and hebrew fonts: view and type

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I am trying to set my Curve 8320 on T-Mobile to read and type in Cyrillic.. I couldn't read or type in Russian on the original Tmo software, and I still can't after upgrading to 4.5.0.52 version from Vodafone.
Yesterday my friend showed me that he is able to type and read russian on a standard ATT curve. I also saw a standard tmobile curve showing russian. So.. let me ask you :
1. What do I need to enable viewing and typing in Russian in the blackberry email application, contacts, BBM, etc...?
2. Same question regarding Hebrew.

Thank you!

I installed the Russian language on my 8320. Hitting Alt + Enter will display a list of languages. I changed to Russian and was able to type in it.

Thumbs up Problem solved (almost)

I am a bit surprised that nobody pointed out the obvious option of going to the Application Loader on the pc and making sure that the checkboxes for the languages that you need are marked.

So, now, I can type in russian and hebrew. The emails appear just fine on the recipient end. However, I can't see either of the languages in the received emails on the blackberry. The text in russian or hebrew just appears as blanks.

It seems to me some formats issue with either email server or the email application when it processes the incoming emails. Languages are displayed ok in the sent messages on the same blackberry.

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Thanks

I don't know off hand. I took the Hebrew files from the os you have, for the 8320, and put them on my 8830. For me the emails come in with Hebrew. I have one option though, you can take off the Hebrew from the App Loader and then install the files seperately. I can send you a ready made .alx file.

Thumbs up Solved

Called T-Mobile and got through to RIM support. They were nice and helped even though my 4.5 version is not supported. The problem was that UTF-8 setting was not enabled on my bis account.

It took the RIM tech 10 min to figure this out.

It's just an option in the definitions of the BIS mailbox that RIM maintains. So, I am assuming they clicked a checkbox somewhere

I have similar problem, I can see Hebrew OK but can't type it.
I have 8100, I have installed v4.5.0.55 and checked the Hebrew and Semite lang support.
but Hebrew doesn't appears in the "Input Language" list. I see Hebrew in the contact list (downloaded to the device from my Exchange account), in email, sms and web.
can anyone help?

Try installing this. Connect your BB to PC and click install in the zip fileHebrew

Thanks!,
after installing these files I have an Hebrew Interface! I really didn't expect to have this
BUT still I can't type in Hebrew :(
Hebrew appears in the language manu but not in the "input language" manu

do you know which file or files are needed in order to be able to type in a given language?
is that a given set of .cod files?

What version of the Blackberry OS do you have? The file in my previous thread is for 4.5.

I have v4.5.0.55.
It probably has something to do with the fact that 8830 has different key layout than 8100
