Default deleting contacts on the device?

Please Login to Remove!

I KNOW I should know this, but I am drawing a total blank.

How can I delete ALL of the contacts in the address book of my device, then resync with Outlook.

With 3.7 I was doing some custom mapping to account for home addresses and such, now with 4.0 that is included and my device is a bit of a mess.

Can anyone help.

Jeff

Use backup/restore, then advanced options I think... you can delete the address book database

Edit: in the desktop manager that is...

Another way that may prove to be faster is to create an Outlook profile sans contacts, sync with that and then sync again with an Outlook profile which contains your desired contacts. Works for me.

I am trying to delete all contacts - 400+ - on my 8700, but it does not seems that I can follow those precise directions, for an 8700.
I do not wish to delete all other info.
Any suggestions?

Sorry for being dumb - but WHERE is the backup/restore? Under the "wrench", "Options"?
Did not find same under "Contacts"

It's not on the BlackBerry.
It is park of Desktop Manager, which runs on your PC.

Maybe I am "dumb" too... I've got DM version 4.1.0.8 and I've gone to Backup and Restore -> Advanced. On the right-hand window (Device Databases) the Address Book is greyed out, so I can not do a Clear when highlighting the database to be removed.

Is this what others are seeing too?

Maybe this is where the disconnect is, because I want to re-sync to my BES-based Contact list which I have cleaned up and want the fresh copy on the 8700.

Thanks... Terry

Not a dumb question at all, I get this all the time at work.

Your connected to BES and set to wirelessly sync. Turn off wireless sync on your BlackBerry first. Go to Address Book > Options and change Wireless Sync to No. Don't forget to set it back to Yes when your done.

Hmmm... ok, so I stopped the wireless sync from occuring on the BB which now lets me "clear" the Address Book from the 8700 using the Desktop Manager. Like I said above, it was greyed out before, after clearing the wireless sync option on the device, that was editable now.

I cleared the contents, went in to the BB and saw it was empty.

Re-enabled wireless sync on the BB and let it sit for a couple of minutes while the data came back from the BES. The only problem, the old duplicated data came back, wonder where that is coming from?

Default Did you find a solution

I was reading this thread for help removing all addresses quickly on my BB in order to eliminate the dups. Did you find a solution to the recurring dups after clearing your adresses?
I'm assuming so, but if not...
If using Outlook and utilizing multiple contact folders; make sure when you clean up your contacts that you also clean up your address book settings. Tools - Address Book... and Tools - Email Accounts(or maybe Account Settings) - View or change existing directories or address books.
