Has anyone else (since upgrading to Nextel 4.1) lost the ability to dial by name?
When in the phone app main screen; I used to be able to start typing a name, and that name would pop up for dialing. Now, with 4.1, that function is gone. It has been replaced by having to click the thumbwheel, and then select "call from address book".

Everyone has the same problem. They say so in numerous other threads. Just something to live with...if u like the feature (as do alot of other users) switch back to the previous OS. I like the feature too...but I like my BB with the new OS cause it operates faster.

I see the 4.1 OS is out for the 7520 Nextel, but I couldn't find it for the 7520 Telus. Is it out yet or are they interchangeable and if not out does anyone have an idea when it may come out?

They are interchangeable, so you can just download the nextel 4.1 and load it on your Telus 7520.

4.1.0.241 is the name of the packaged version.

When installed it is actually 4.1.0.273 (Platform 1.5.0.38)

Hey everyone,

I know you cannot Text Message with e BB 7520... However, does anyone HONESTLY think it will ever happen
Because I was thinking about switching over to one single phone (carry 2 phones now) my nextel and then a tmobile blackberry for text and email... i would like to stay on nextel and get my phone, text, email, PPT etc. all in one device....... I was going to make major decisions and change around my service provider and cancel both plans and go to the 8700 on Cingular..... Just wanted to know if the Blackberry 7520 will have SMS anywhere in the very near future.... I send about 3000 texts a month... and Nextel not having text messaging is REALLY holding me back... Ugh!
Sorry for it being so long, but i searched and everyone jus wanted SMS but i want to know if it will be available anytime soon, since this new 4.1 update came out, people might be still working out the kinks with Nextel & RIM.

Thank you for all your help to everyone here!

all you have to do is use [email address] to send from the Blackberry 7520 or at least that's what I do. You can't tell who sends you text messages but as long as they label who they you should be fine. A lot of my young cousins text message me. The 7520 is the all in one package in my opinion.

Honestly I think even if they did get SMS working on it, I would still use the email method because it seems like it's much quicker and I've never had to deal with delay issues that arrise with cross carrier SMS messages.. Seems one day it can be fine, and the next it's delayed by 4 hours or some other problem.

I will say that this is much better if you're attached to a BES server as there is no delay in recieving the messages at all then either VS waiting for BWC to check your pop account...
