Q: If I upgrade to the currently available Hong Kong v4.1 software for my Cingular 7100g, will I be able to overwrite it later and install a Cingular-specific version of 4.1x (assuming that Cingular ever releases it!)?

A: If a new version of the 4.1 device OS comes out for Cingular, it should have a later build number, and so should install right over the Hong Kong version without any issues (note the 'should's...).

Also, installing the Hong Kong version may void whatever warranty or insurance you have. If you have either, check before installing.

Finally, if you do try to install, please read the many threads here before attempting to do so, or you'll wish you had and be back here asking more questions....

My local cingular says that they have no intention of releasing 4.1 for my 7100g BB. So my only option is the hong kong version that solved all my bugs from 4.0. They also don't repair them so voiding my warranty by changing the OS is a non issue.
