Default BlackBerry 6 Available August 3rd for the 9650?

I haven't been with BlackBerry long enough to know the history of the timing of a new device running a new OS, and when the new OS will become available to other devices (the 9650, in my case). If the Slider is released August 3rd, does anyone think that BlackBerry 6 will become available to 9650 users on August 3rd as well?

I am on the same page as Midnight on this one. At least we would hopefully see a credible beta by then.

Pictures tend to be a good sign. We shall see over the coming months. I am waiting for the first beta to play with.

Fantastic! Man, what a relief this is. I was pretty sure BlackBerry 6 would be available for the 9650, but I always had a deep-down sick feeling that it might not. I would have really kicked myself for pulling the trigger and upgrading a month or two too early.

Bring on 6!

I am optimistic but also biased to factory installed devices. Will my device be more sluggish? I don't know.

Also,
Kep in mind, just because RIM or Verizon roll out OS6 that does not mean your BES administrator will roll out OS6 or make the upgrade available. I'll keep my broken trackball 9630 until the 9650 has OS6 from the factory. I can limp by for a month...

Well into September and I've seen no indication that the 9650 is getting OS6 anytime soon. Bummer, I was looking forward to an updated OS.

Good point. Nothing so far. There was a video a few weeks ago and that's it.

Yeah, I've been wondering what the heck the deal is. I do remember hearing early reports that OS 6 was laggy on the 9650, so if it takes some extra time to get it right the first time, then so be it, I guess. Rumors, videos, and sneak peaks were on fire there for a while...but it has been pretty quiet lately...

I am patient and more concerned with effectiveness then efficiency. The debate may become which device gets the first legit beta?

I was just about to post the leak as well. Has anyone tried it yet? I may just wait for an official release...

Oops, I'm an idiot, tried it again. Seems to be working quite well for the moment. App World (My World) is very confused though, had to reinstall lots of apps, so it would recognized them being installed. A couple it says aren't available for my phone, one is installed, but can't get UPS Moblile.

Probably a long wait before there is an official VZW release, be nice when we get it. BTW, battery seems to drain faster also.

Been running it for two days now. The only problem I have is no light for the video camera and I am having trouble moving in the calendar when in the day view. Other than that, I must say I am impressed. For the first "leak", this is not bad. Lots of learning again to find things. Browser is sweet, especially with WIFI. An official release should be even better.

I recommend the upgrade.
