Default Stupid question about 4.5 upgrade...

Please Login to Remove!

I have been reading a lot about the email application going to html with the 4.5 upgrade. What does that mean, exactly? How different will my email be? I sorta like the way the email is now (in some ways), and just don't understand how it will be changed if I upgrade. Can anyone explain this to me? Sorry, dumb question, I know. Thanks!

You will see images as well as colored text in your email. It will no longer be plain text.

Embedded pictures in the email. Much like you'd see on your computer. Right now if someone sends you an html email you see a bunch of code with <> in it.

Got it...thanks guys. Just one more question though. I've been searching for ways to go back to 4.3 (original OS) incase I had problems, or did not agree with 4.5. I've been finding mixed ideas/info on how to do it. Could someone please provide me with a specific way to go about downgrading, if needed? I used to have a treo, and to go back to factory settings, all I had to do was hold a button and power back up, with the BB it doesn't sound that simple. Any help with that is appreciated.

You simply install the version you want on the BB onto your PC. Then uninstall any newer versions. Delete any vendor.xml files and then plug in the device and run apploader. It will downgrade.

Where do I go to find the version that I want? Which would be the version currently on my BB (4.3).

4.3.?.??

I think Verizon's only download is 4.5. We'll have to get it from another carrier.

You can always use the original cds that came with the phone too, that more than likely is the older os.

Yeah, I always thought that was a little odd, personally. What harm could come from slapping the original, shipping OS is a better term, OS onto the CD? One reason I say this: Verizon tech support stinks in my mind. They're superbly knowledgeable comparing phone models/features and friendly, everything you could ask for, when you walk into one of their OFFICIAL stores. But as soon you scan your credit card and sign, you are now forgotten about and forced to either figure things out on your own, they become an entirely different animal. Tech Support is about as helpful as a rock. Like, you are bothering them.

Having the original "what your phone shipped with" OS on CD in the lil box would eliminate a lot of those annoying calls from people who use them as a BB training seminar contact.

Question Not working for me...

I've just installed 4.5.0.77 on my Sprint 8330, and no images are being displayed on my emails.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong. I updated my 8830 and it worked like a charm. Just can't figure out why is not working on my Curve.

Thanks for the help!

With your e-mail dislapyed, press the menu button, then select Options>E-Mail Settings. Near the bottom of the screen, you should see "Enable HTML E-Mail". Make sure this is set to "yes".

You need to log in to your BIS account and resend your service books.

I still have to go to the menu and download the images is dose not come in automatic.
sprint dose not support 4.5 and that might be the reason that is dose not download the images automatically.

If I had my phone on 4.5 and I went to the options section and did that wipeout or whatever that option is to revert back and eliminate everything. Would it go back to a 4.3 OS, or stay at 4.5? This is why I have a hard time deciding whether or not to go to 4.5, afraid that I won't get it back if needed.

I am completely happy with 4.5 over 4.3. in the sticky at the top of the 8300 page there is information about upgrading and down grading.

to answer you question about downgrading you will have to use the DM to downgrade. when you wipe the phone it would stay 4.5. wiping just takes you personal info off.

If the image is a link you will have to select get images. If the image is embedded into the message you will not have to make that selection.
