So mpeg files & wmv files can only be played via microSD, but not viewed when received as email attachments?
Can I send an mpeg or wmv file stored on my microSD card to someone else as an email attachment? I'm on BIS 2.3.
Hello All,
This has been very frustrating but I finally go it to work and this is what I did.
8830 Blackberry
1. I upgraded the BB to 4.2.2 using the Desktop Manager.
2. I created an email account on the BB BIS website.
<username@vzw.blackberry.net>
3. I setup my phone .wav files to go to the new account.
I sent a test email (at this time it still didn't work).
4. I went to change device and needed to get the information from my 8830 so I shut it down and took out the battery.
5. While battery was out, I filled in the ESN and verified the PIN and saved it.
6. Before placing the battery back in the BB, I sent the service book again.
7. I put the battery back in and at the same time, I sent another test message.
8. I was able to open the .wav file but none of the previous ones.
Just now, I sent another test message and it still works.
Good luck to those who are still having problems...

But you can only view wav files sent to that address not your other email accounts?

Open the BlackBerry Server Configuration panel (Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration).
Select the Attachment Server tab.
Change Configuration Option to Attachment Server.
Ensure that Audio Attachments is selected.
Change Configuration Option to Connector Configuration.
At the end of Format Extensions, type wav.

Additional WAV, MP3, and MIDI file support

To get your WAV, MP3 or MIDI attachments played by your BB youxxx8217;ll need MasterDoc by Dynoplex. It supports full circle of operations with media files: playing them, saving to BB internal memory or SD, sending as attachments.
Please note: to get this functionality your device OS should be 4.2 (to check it go to: Options-> About).
We had the same problem with users receiving "an unknown error was encountered" when opening WAV files. BES was upgraded to 4.1.6.9, Windows Media player was upgrade to 10.0 and we still had the problem. We called Blackberry and found an Audio Codec was registered incorrectly in the registry.
Control Panel... Sound & Audio Properties... Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 Codec... properties... (verify you are using this codec)
