I have searched for this issue and I've gotten a lot of posts about people having a missed call icon but no actual missed calls.

I want to know how to get rid of the missed call icon, but still keep the missed calls in the call log list. For example, someone calls me and I don't answer. The missed call icon pops up (the little yellow envelope with the number next to it). So I go to my call log and I see that yes, John Doe called me. I want to keep him in the call log, but get rid of the little yellow envelope. Is that possible? Its an 8830 if that matters.

It should stay there. Go to your phone (push the send key). Hit menu > options > general options. There is an option in there called "phone list view". Set that to call log and you should be fine.

It already was set to "phone list view". What do you mean by "it should stay there?"

I meant the number should stay in the call log. Maybe its different on the 88's, but that's how my 8100 and 8320 work. Missed calls stay in the list until newer items push them out.

Oh - I do want it to stay on the list. I just want the missed call icon, the little yellow envelope, to go away. Thanks for your help!

Maybe I'm missing something but the missed call icon normally isn't an envelope. That's the message icon. It might be because you have call logging set to show calls in ur messages. Try phone > options > call logging. If that's set to something other than none then you most likely see the message icon for missed calls. I keep it set to none because I don't want that stuff in my messages. You may want to try that.
