Default Wireless Push Works - but still shows "Upgrade Required"

Please Login to Remove!

Basically, every app or patch or update I've pushed wirelessly has worked just fine. Problem is, a lot of the time the BES will show "Upgrade Required," for some users that successfully received the app.

It's not THAT big of a deal, because I know if it says "Install Required," then it's simply not there at all, and does in fact need it. "Upgrade Required," always means it has the app. This hasn't been an issue, but now that I've been using OTA pushes for a while, I find myself pushing upgraded versions of apps (METAmessage, DST, EMS), and now it actually is affecting me, because I can't tell if an upgrade worked or not.

I've had this happen with every app I push, RIM blames the version of the devices, different models, etc. This is simply not the problem.

Attached is a screenshot showing two 8703e's, both running the exact same OS version, and one shows "Upgrade Required."

I've also opened the Properties window and scrolled to the app that is installed, and is the correct version (DST Patch).

What I've tried:
Clearing software configuration for users, waiting 5 hours for poll, reassigning software configuration, waiting 5 hours for poll.

Clearing software configuration, manually deleting the ITAdminQueue field from database for affected users, reassigning software configuration, waiting 5 hours for poll.

I don't really know what to try now. I have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1 running on the box that is hosting the apps (in case the device.xml file was somehow to blame).

Below you can also see the DST Query tool is reporting the patch has been applied to the user in question

RIM is looking into this for me - but I'm surprised no one else is having this problem!

We are experiencing the same problem but are relying on DST query tool rather than what the BES reports

I have the same thing. Anyone I had already pushed PatchManager 1.5 to, shows Upgrade Required when I updated the package to 2.2. And like Stella said, I've been paying more attention to what DST2007Query tells me then what the config status in the BES console does. I'm curious to see what RIM tells you though....

We're seeing the same problem but with Google Maps. Please let us know if you come up with a solution.

Update:

RIM says to try 2.3. I told them I wasn't sure it was related to DST Patch, since it happens with MOST applications. Unless EVERYONE is writing sloppy OTA apps.

Problem still persists with 2.3.

I had this problem before when I had multiple applications in the shared folder. If I selected the patch to Wirelessly install and left Google Maps in there unchecked it would always say that an Install was Required despite the fact that the patch was in successfully. If I removed the Google Maps from the share and reindexed it would clear it up and give me the OK message instead. It's annoying because eventually I want to have other program loading besides this DST patch and if it still happens I'll have to deal with the incorrect reporting.

kpoland,
Check your policy logs and you can narrow down which specific app is causing the problem. My logs show Google Maps being pushed out to everyone every four hours. All other apps are fine.

I removed ALL the other Software Configs that I have. The only one that exists is DST 2.3.

I reassigned the config, and when I do so I get the below error.

This happened last time I set up 2.3, but the error went away after 4 hours or so.

Anyway, it seems the problem was not related to having other Software Configurations or other OTA apps.

**EDIT** Exiting and relaunching BlackBerry Manager clears this error. I can now click "Update Config Check Status."

Default Hold The Phone!!!

It works!! Everyone is reporting Up to Date, and if they are not, it's reporting a correct earlier version of DST!

Good to know!!! This will have to be submitted to RIM!

Cool! If you find a solution to that, post it...I don't have access to TSupport. Maybe it only happens with DSTPatch?

I fixed this one by adding the PIN to the columns.

I just found out from RIM that if you have any other items in the software config that are unchecked it will show upgrade required because it still looks at them. I deleted all other apps out of the shared directory and created a new config that only has Google Maps and MSD and sure enough it now says Up to Date...

I still can now get MDS 1.1.1.25 to install on an 8800. It installs on everything else. But I have to install it on the 8800 via Desktop Manager. It always shows it is installed even though it is not. Do 8800's have MDS installed by default?
