When I had OS 4.1-SMS messages received w/ over 160 words where broken up in multiple messages.

When I upgraded to 4.2. SMS messages over 160 words became all one message, but just longer to load.

Ever since yesterday, All the SMS messages I receive over 160 words get cut off at 160 words.

Is this a Alltel problem or a Blackberry 8703e problem.

Most carriers limit the number of text messages to 160 characters. SMS messages sent to my blackberry via email have always split themselves in two.

I haven't had to chance to go through customer service. But I will today.

The sender of the Text Messages over 160 get this when my message is cut down:

"Message Delivered to (Phone #) as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced messaging service"

not much you can do! SMS protocol is 160 characters!!! SMS= SHORT message service

Yeh but do they really have to cut the messages. They could at least split them into multiple messages like they used to. I'll call Alltel though.

I always let them know the last few words I got lol.

Been around before way back when, just lost my way on the whole Blackberry thing!

BTW my reply was "an Alltel problem" there are 2 words that shouls have stuck out in that post ALLTEL and PROBLEM <-- need I say more

I know what SMS is. Its not neccessary to have over 160 characters in SMS. I'm just saying I used to get full messages over 160 and now I don't.

The Alltel guy is basically clueless, he just resetted my messaging Profile. Maybe that will work.
