after doing some searching, i'm still a little confused. when/if we upgrade to 2.5, will they also officially release 4.5 OS, so we can take full advantage of the html emails plus newly integrated hotmail? or, can we stick with 4.2? i just want hotmail pushed in real time.

yeah... i'm kinda weary about upgrading right now after reading the reviews. I'm totally cool with 4.2... just really want to know if we need 4.5 to use 2.5?

no, you dont need it to be able to access emails like you do now, but you need it to get the added benefits of 2.5

OS versions aren't any different between carriers. The brand of device is what determines what is loaded to the device during the OS loading process. So, a Vodafone OS is no different than an AT&T OS.

This BIS 2.5 will effect all carriers not just AT&T right? (Even though we won't see anything on our side till we we get 4.5)

BIS 2.5 is HERE! In Italy, TIM carrier, this morning as i powered up my BB i started to see crazy html mail from my Yahoo account...so....guess what? followed the instruction found in the wild...Deleted all accounts from BIS, created again and on my 8310 OS 4.5 the HTML option is here.

Rim is updating all US servers on June 28th which is a prereq to anything that VZ or anybody else does. That's probably why you are hearing the June 29th date.

[Bb-Outage] BIS 2.5 UPGRADE - RIM scheduled maintenance June 28

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. What I haven't seen is a similar one for VZ or any other carrier. They would have to release 4.5 and upgrade their servers all in one day after RIM does theirs. Seems highly unlikely.
