Anyone know if Digicel has implimented Blackberry email in Aruba yet? There was a press announcement announcing it this past summer, but haven't seen anything since then.

I was there this past September and I only had GSM (phone) service on my Cingular 7290. I've heard that they have since implemented GPRS roaming on the island, but have not gotten direct confirmation.

Thanks ckent....After some time on Google, it looks like they have GPRS roaming now (or will very shortly). Unfortunately, I can only vacation in places where I can receive email (sad, but true :( )

Any updates from anyone. Some of you must take a vacation (Aruba specificly) every decade or two .

My boss is actually over there now and was going to try his 7290 over the TMobile network. I will let you know what the outcome is.

I am in Aruba this week as well. Works great as long as you force the network to Digicel. Sorry for the posting delay but my wife said I would be divorced if I pulled out the BB for more then 5 minutes a day while here .

Why boycott an island because an American is missing? People go missing all the time in forigen countries, and people don't boycott those places? The only reason the media picked up on this one so heavy was because this is one of the first times anything has ever happened like this in Aruba. Once you've been there, you'll want to go back. I was there the week after she went missing, and this is by far one of the most laid back islands i've ever been to. I never felt unsafe. I was smart about where I went, who I partied with, and well... When I was growing up, my parents told me not to ride wiht strangers........

<off soap box>
Last time I was there I only had a phone. If I ever went back, I dont think my blackberry would even get packed, unless I didnt have a direct flight back. I freaking loved the place though.
