Hey everyone,

I know it's Thanksgiving, but I'm hoping someone out there can help me as I have a meeting at 6am and all the info is on my Blackberry!

I was sitting watching football just now and looked down at my screen and saw this happen. Does anyone know how to fix this? Seems like a hardware problem. I can make calls but not see anything.



I'm willing to take this apart as I assume there's no warranty from RIM? The phone is only a few months old and I got it brand new. I have no insurance on it from Tmobile.

Pull the battery and wait for a couple of minutes. then re-insert it.

Sorry I forgot to include in my original post that this isn't my first blackberry / post on the forum and I obviously first tried a battery pull. Seems to be a hardware issue....

You say at the end of the OP that it's only a few months old and you bought it new from T-Mobile? ...... It's still under warranty by T-Mobile. Take it into a store, or call T-Mobile customer service.

I bought it from a guy on the forums, but it came brand new. Any chance it's under warranty if this is the case?

Either way, any idea how I can fix it myself? I need it fixed tonight :(

I don't know...that is I just don't know for sure if the warranty is transferable. It's not going to hurt to ask.

EDIT: Better yet, read T-Mobile's warranty statement first. If you think it's under warranty and you are entitled, be polite and ask for a warranty exchange rather than go in asking if it is under warranty.

Do you have a data backup? I'd try reinstalling the OS and see if that doesn't fix things.

Oh and all my water damage stickers are white. I can make calls, sync, etc fine.

Seems this is a common problem.... one that RIM should really be responding to. I'm guessing I'm SOL though. Maybe it's time to switch to Android, after being a loyal RIM customer for over 10 years :(

Every BB I've had, lasted shorter then the last... but 4 months is ridic.

I tried upgrading the OS and it did nothing. Must be the video card on the phone, assuming such a thing exists.

I then took it apart via online video instructions and checked the ribbon cables. They're secure, but the side one looks bent a bit, possibly even corroded or something. I guess I'll take it to a cell phone repair store if I can find one in my area. I blew them out with a duster, put it back together, but no change.
