Happens to me all the time. Oh yeah, on three different BlackBerries and across twice as many Windows installs and multiple computers.

Not the most well-written app.

In my case it crashes before it gets to read the first item in my Outlook calendar. I did the wipe up procedure but it didn't work.

These is the data from the errors and the content of the sync log. Does anyone have an idea on when they'll release a new version that works.

eljavi666, Karina's fix worked for me. I was getting the exact same error message as you, all the same numbers and codes any everything. Might be worth giving her instructions another go. I used the 1st set of instructions she gave, not the one underneath which she used.

I too had this issue, something that started with me once I upgraded to Office 2007. So far there have been two solutions that I have worked for me and they were on two different PCs ( may be that's whats corrupting this ) and each solution was on a different PC.

1. I Repaired the Outlook install. Once done it worked like a charm

2. I followed another suggestion earlier in this chain. I had been having errors syncing the calender items across to the BB. I selectively synced just my address book, once that succeeded I enabled tasks, memo's and finally the calender one at a time. This seems to have fixed the issue.

Not too sure what was corrupted, the file on the BB itself or the outlook file.

Hope this helps !

Now it worked for me. Thanks Alex. I couldn't recall any change or what possibly changed right before it stopped working so I'll be more observant during the following weeks hoping to find what triggers this error.

the same thing happens to me, probably every third time I try to sync. The only thing that seems to get around it is to wipe the calendar on the handheld, and then resync. in many different forums i have found references to certain data in calendar entries can somehow corrupt the entry and cause the failure, but there's no consistency.

basically, it's a crap application. i've had this same problem consistently across different OS, different machines and different handhelds. I've tried all the suggestions and none work.

Default Sync Issue with Outlook

I believe that Karina's solution is the only one out there right now that works all the time.

Neither Microsoft nor RIM have any good solutions.

I have since Published that article on our Knowledge base for all of our BB users.

Thanks KARINA!

Jimmie, have you been in touch with Microsoft and/or RIM regarding this issue? It doesn't seem possible to contact RIM without paying for the privilege! Is this a RIM bug or a MS bug?

The reason I ask is that this error has happened to me 3 times now... twice in the last couple of weeks. It's kinda annoying having to delete all those files in my App Data folder each time and rebuild all my sync preferences.

Has anyone done any testing to get repeatable steps that lead to the error? I've got a funny feeling it's something to do with editing and synchronizing recurring appointments, but I can't be sure without some thorough testing. Unfortunately I just don't have the time. Does anyone else have this suspicion?

For me it's definitely a calender issue. Just for the record, my standard config is two-way sync, transfer items within range 90 prior and 270 after today, remove alarm for past items unchecked. Trying the one way syncs doesn't stop the error, and neither does syncing future items only. Don't really know how else to test it! If anyone has any brainwaves or can do some testing, do share.

I'm sure we can crack this one together! Even if we can't find a solution, it would be great to find the cause of the problem so we can all avoid it and the inconvenience it creates for us.

Cheers guys.

Alex =)

For me it has been a Calendar issue and from what I can find without paying for support, there is a Corrupt calendar entry, which I believe to be incorrectly called CORRUPT. I think the Desktop Manager pukes on some reoccurring meetings and I haven't yet figure out which types cause the problem. The couple users in question, both have 400 plus calendar entries and I just haven't had the time to work thru all of those to find the culprit.

Sorry....if I get any more info I will be sure to post it here.

Thanks,

Jimmie

Thanks for that Jimmie. Maybe we can refine Karina's fix...

Does that /whole/ RIM folder in App Data have to be deleted? Are there particular files that can be deleted so that corruption is cleared but we don't lose our sync config? If anyone could work that out, that'd be awesome!

Cheers,
Alex =)

Default Records Skipped, Check Synchronization Log

I have been getting a similar error. I used the fixes you recommended and found the error in my contacts. I have a few distribution lists in my contacts that I use for work. You cannot synch those to BB.

I'm having the same problem, which I band-aided by not syncing the tasks. However, my BB is now not getting my email either. May be unrelated, I don't know.

I'm very much a BB newbie (I just got it in Dec 2007), and it has been working great, so I've not really done much reading to learn about it. I'm willing to do that, but in the meantime, I would be very grateful if someone could point me to a way to get it to get my email again.

Also, just to show how much of a noob I am, I was going to do Katrina's fix above, but I'm not finding Application Data when it says to delete the RIM folder found here - C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\ I don't find anything under my user name that is "Application Data".

/sigh

Thanks.

For C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\, Application Data is a hidden folder. You have to go the the Control Panel (click start button), > Folder Options, > view. There is a list of options. Click "view hidden files and folders", click Apply, then OK. You should be able to see Application Data now.

A ha! I was syncing today and decided to click the reject button on the suggested alterations to the calenders. when I synced again, i still wasn't happy to i clicked the re-sync button. after doing that it crashed and is now repeating with exactly the same error.

does choosing resync cause the problems? can anyone confirm this?

and any ideas on my above question...

Tried all of the above with no luck. Export Outlook Calendar to a pst, re-import with replace duplicates selected. May need to create a new calendar, import to it, then back to the original. Re-indexes the database, fixed problem
