install the T-Mobile OS with the above steps. there's no point in using a different radio code from India for a network that offers the same version already.

OMG ZEN LOL!!

Wow the Zen theme rocks! I can't believe BB doesn't make this the standard theme or at least an option. Thanks for the detailed instructions, jibi.

I have downloaded and attempted to install the new T-Mobile OS on my 8700c. No joy. App loader simply says there is no system software found for my device.

Any ideas? The desktop code is definately out in the shared directory waiting to be installed.

Did you forget to delete the Vendor.xml file?

Maybe....

Actually, I swear I did a search for vendor.xml on my machine (before) and found nothing. I have done this type of upgrade several times in the past, so I knew to look for it.

I totally uninstalled the Desktop Manager and the T-Mobile update and re-installed. Search found the vendor.xml file in the Apploader directory this time, which I deleted.

I am now in the process of performing the new code install.

Thanks for affirming that it should be there and needs to be deleted.

Thank you! I am off to roast my berry.

Lots of resources on here if you search.
In short: emailing pics to your blackberry is easiest method. Open Attachment then click to Save.
For ringtones, you will have to browse to the location with your Blackberry Browser. A media Player will open and play it. Scroll to right and then click to Save.

Seattle18,

I like the spidey pic too. Would it be okay if I were to resize it for the 7100 series so I can set it as the background on my phone? No need to tell me how, I can resize it in the GIMP or mspaint without too much trouble.

me too, the Tmobile OS installs a RIM folder lacking anything that resembles a shared folder or ali or axi file...

EDIT: Thanks Jibri...I will try that.

you have to reinstall the desktop manager 1st (don't hook your 8700g up yet) and then install the OS 2nd. then when you run the desktop manager you hook up your 8700c and the rest is history....

BlackBerry.alx Download: Click Here

Instructions:

1 - Download and install the T-Mobile 8700g 4.1.0.280/4.1.0.284 software from here.

2 - Delete the Vendor.xml file from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

3 - Rename the BlackBerry.alx file located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120 to BlackBerry.alx.old

4 - Download and extract the BlackBerry.alx file from here. This should be extracted to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.284_P2.0.0.120

5 - Open Desktop Software 4.1 and update your handheld.

* Note: I chose to go ahead and remove all of the crap they had installed by default, such as the alternate Input Languages and whatnot.
If you install tmo OS on the 8700G, you don't have to delete Vendor.xml, and the blackberry.alx file, you only need to modify the file.

i have followed your directions specifically..
T-mobile does have the software available for download on their site, my.tmobile.com

i downloaded it, and when i try to install (even without your modification to the alx file)

I get an error
"The application 'browser' cannot be loaded, because it requires the following applications that are not available: net.rim.blackberry.xml"

I am a computer literate person, and i have double checked my work serveral times.

any suggestions?

I had the same problem early today. I was getting frustrated but now I have zen.

I downloaded both files from TMO website. Then I unzipped (for some reason unzipping seem to be key)and installed both files.

Then I deleted code from blackberry. Alx file.

Ran desktop manager and it loaded the zen theme within seconds. And it works fine.

I have a 8700g from tmo by the way

So The general consensus is if you download the latest T-Mobile OS from the links and you get the Zen theme, you should not download the Bharti OS at all?

Also is the Bharti OS the onlly current OS that provides the other themes in addition to the Zen theme (such as Vodafone, O2, etc...)?

or you can install the new Telstra software, which is what some of us have done...

but yes, T-Mobile's software is the same as Bharti's software except T-Mobile's radio code will differ, obviously, for their network. If you are on TMO, use it.
