Default RIM Servers always down?

I don't get why it takes more than a week to do maintanence on RIM's servers?

I wonder if the hit they are taking is affecting their ability to provide their service?

I still have not been able to download the latest firmware for my 9860 for the past week as the connection times out or I get a RIM server down for maintanence error.

Really.. I just now downloaded both 7.0.0.296 (Vodafone) and 7.0.0.353 (Chunghwa) for the 9860. Took about 5 minutes each.

I've probably downloaded 7-8 different OS files in the past 10 days, 2 in the past three days... all from RIM servers. No issues.

The OP may have a local carrier issue and nothing to do with RIM. I would call the carrier to see if they have issues....if they admit it.

Can't explain why but I was having huge pains trying to download 474 for my 9860 with IE9. Speeds were 50 KB/s and it would knock out after 100 MB or so. Tried about 10 times.

Switched over to Chrome and it downloaded first try at 1 MB/s.

Maybe it's time to switch permanently.

Probably has more to do with the connection than the browser.
