I an not using a BES but BIS. Will loading the BB desktop software on my PC at work and home cause any problems with sync in my address, messages etc or any other conflict?

no you will have all the same info I do this on my pc and laptop

I have it on 3 laptops and a desktop. Works great with no problems at all.
