149 is an intro price, it will be reduced for q4.

initial entry at $49 would result in a short shelf life.

I just got a rogers flyer in the mail today with the Blackberry Pearl 8220! It is defineltly the new pearl and it is at $149.99 on 3 year. It says "New" and doesn't say anything about release date so does that mean it's out effective today?

Does anyone know if the Rogers version will allow WiFi to be used for applications OTHER than UMA?
(ie email, browser, pin)

That's already possible with other wifi BB devices on Rogers. I'm sure the 8220 will be no different.

I thought there were grumblings that the 8120 and 8820 were kind of locked down in that regard. Not first hand knowledge, though, as my AT&T 8820 worked just like my Bold does on wifi.
