Seems like a schweet deal....I'm looking at dropping Cingular....they are just not competitive with their prices or their BIS and the coverage is the same in my area.

This deal from Amazon.com also looks pretty good. However, they say they aren't shipping for a couple weeks.

8700g at Amazon.com

It also appears that Amazon.com may onl be requiring a one year contract. I know some other sellers have been asking for two year contracts.

if anyone read my post above and was wondering the same... it cannot be done. they can sign you up for a new contract, but you have to get a new number also.

Can't he then port his old number to his new account? If not, port your old number to Cingular then back to TMO within the 14 days.

I wonder if we can do this deal like Cingular? Order the 8700 for $99 then cancel the contract before it locks in... I guess that won't work cuz you have to wait to ship on this one.

TMO doesn't consider you a "new" customer unless you've been inactive for 90 days.

guys/gals, i went to wirelessbuy.com and got a PC card - the GC89. it came today, but was USED. i had no idea i was buying a used item and it mentions it no where on the site that i could find. I called customer care, which is just an answering machine and left 2 messages without a return call. i don't think its common to expect USED equipment from a re-seller, so I was definately mislead. Further more, the CD was missing from the sleeve and a blank one is in its place - so it appears the unit was even inspected before being shipped out.

I thought everyone would want to know to use this site with caution.

I am thinking about the same now - you can cancel your T-Mobile contract and return the phone within 30 days with no penalties, right?

PS. It says now on amazon site "Availability: Usually ships in 24 hours" - does it really mean they will ship it within a day?

Well, as I learned from my own experience - you can do it indeed, there will be no penalties from T-Mobile side for canceling the old contract, but then you cannot get a new one (from Amazon or other reseller) within 90 days

I think the amazon deal is a little better, thats where I ordered mine a couple of days back (and it was shipped the next day, no wait here). Yes you do not get the BT headset, but who cares. That other website requires a 2 year agreement, a crappy BT headset is not worth that. Amazon is only a year agreement. Price wise there is a difference. What is that difference, well that depends on which rebates you get screwed out of.

Amazon: $200 up front - $50 tmobile rebate (reliable, ~2 months to get it) - $150 amazon rebate (not so reliable, ~9-10 months to get it, yes you read it right, they have a 6 month retention time and a 3 month processing time per rebate) = Best case FREE or Worst case $150 w/ a one year agreement.

Not too bad at all.

WirelessBuy: $99 - $50 probably tmobile rebate = Best case $50 + Free BT Headset, Worst case $50 + Free BT Headset (unless they screw you over w/ that BT headset) w/ a 2 year agreement.

That 2 year agreement and a fishy website were a deal breaker for me. For example try to find on their site what kind of agreement they require. You cant, not untill half way through the ordering process in fine print somewhere where it says a 24 month agreement is required.

Now reading biellos's experience getting a used product... well I'm glad I decided to pass on their deal.

So $150 w/ a one year agreement and I know what I am getting, or $50 w/ a two year agreement and you could be getting a cat in the sack. For me it was an easy decision.

Can you get the Amazon plan just with unlimited data? I don't need voice minutes but only see 2 options for rate plans.

Your best bet is probably calling them, I dont think I saw that option at check out. They gave me only two options for a plan as far as I remember, but one of them was the one I wanted so I didnt look deeper, maybe there was a small link somewhere "Look at other plans" that I missed...

So the TMobile unlimited data plan is only $30 even if I don't have a voice plan? Most other carriers I know charge more for data only.

It's $40, not $30.
