Default 8100, memory and phone lag problems.

So, I have an SD card (2gig) and have sms and such going to that. I have taken all my pictures off the SD card to clear up space. I only have maybe 3 applications (that aren't pre-installed) on my phone.

Problem is that my phone:

a) Often gets calls, but shows the number as Unknown, even when it's people i have in my address book

b) runs out of memory pretty fast...I have less than 2 megabytes free, but as I said, I have an SD card and can't figure out why I don't have more free space (and I've gone through and followed that thread about freeing up space)

c) about 90% of the time, my phone shows the sanddial going round and round, even when just unlocking it (pressing * then Green call button), or loading my BBMessenger, or simple programs.

any ideas what's going on? or how I can get a fix to get it running normally and smoothly again? It's so rare for me to be able to unlock my phone, and go to BBMessenger, or even make a call, without waiting like 5 minutes...

You're saving your SMS to your SD card? hmmm....

a) My Caller ID name/number do not show when I get a call or SMS - BlackBerryFAQ
b) You haven't done everything in 'that' thread.
c) See b) and make sure unused apps (like an active browser page) are not running in the background.

What OS release (options > about, third line down) are you using?

I'm pretty sure I'm saving my SMS to my SD card, but if that sounds wrong, let me know and I'll see if I can find out what I meant...basically, I'm not saving them to my SIM card (so am I right in assuming it's going to my SD card?).

As for a), all of my settings are the same as suggested in that thread.

as for b), I'm almost positive I've done everything. What's the link to the thread again? (I'll search, but perhaps your response will be quicker)

and I'm using OS v4.5.0.182 (Platform 2.7.0.106)

No, they are going to the phone memory, bringing down the amount of Free memory. Nothing (sms, email, contacts) can be saved to an SD card.

Oh, okay.

So then I deleted my texts from my phone, hoping it'd speed it up some...no avail, it still lags like no other.

Would I need to upgrade/downgrade my OS? Could that be causing the problem perhaps?

Google Maps is basically worthless, i'll load it (it NEVER remembers that I set the permissions for it, by the way) and it'll just basically hang up and take at least 10 minutes to respond to any buttons i press on my phone (including back, menu, and the Red phone button)...

First, try a battery pull.

Then read the FAQ article on how to free up memory on the device.
