Default App World not responding!! Virus?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, i have been facing a prob with my device recently. Appworld was working fine till a few days back on wifi but nowadays when i try to get in through wifi, i get a dialog box that says 'we cannot connect you to bb appworld.please ensure that your device is connected to the wireless network and try again'. All other applications like whatsapp and web browser work perfectly. I wiped the whole device thinking that might help but still appworld refuse to load on my device. Any suggestions?

i have netqin activated on my device, does it help in keeping my device safe or is it just a waste of app memory?

Don't know netquin.

Not a virus.

App World must connect to the mobile network to get some code, or something like that, to determine your location or country or something like that. At any rate, is needs the connection. Troubleshoot that.

Do you have a Blackberry data plan active with the device? BB App World requires it. You must be connected to RIM services and have the correct service books.

Plus there are several countries where a connection is not allowed. Need to check with RIM for the list to see if your location is banned.

It was working fine till a few days back. One fine morning it just decided to stop. I have been downloading apps from app world since almost 6 months over wifi and have never come across this problem.

Again, make sure you have mobile network enabled and that you have a good, steady signal. Do a battery pull, with the power on, and wait 30 seconds before putting the battery back. If that doesn't fix it, resend service books and test.

Netqin is an anti virus that I download a few weeks back from appworld. Not very sure if its making a difference but still have it just as a safety precaution.

App world doesn't connect even when I have network coverage. Besides it works fine each time I re install appworld but after 2 or 3 visits to appworld, the dialog box pops up!

Well, delete Netquin and see if it makes a difference. If it isn't causing any harm, you could add it again. Personally, I don't think you need it. Hope you didn't spend any money on it.

I'm not sure what the problem is. If it were me I would do a security wipe and select the option to delete all user-installed apps, and start over, see what happens. Do a backup first and then just restore your data, no settings. Redo the setting from scratch. Download apps one at a time and test. Be judicious about what apps you install, and try and stick with only what you really need at first.

You can do it from the email setup app on the device. Also, see How do I resend my service books? - BlackBerryFAQ.

I tried a battery pull, did a security wipe day before yesterday, deleted all user installed apps also. Re installed appworld and it worked. I installed whatsapp, netqin and a flash light app. After that it stopped working. Tried deleting netqin, flash light thinking it was the reason, did a reset and installed appworld. Still nothing.

Somewhere in all that is the answer. Obviously it is working until something messes up or is messed up.

I don't use any of those apps. Search and see if there are any known or supposed conflicts that match your configuration.

My opinion is you probably want to do the wipe again and avoid those apps. See what happens. If you still have trouble, your next step is your carrier's customer service.

Have you tried connecting to App World from a different location? What happens if you turn off wifi on you device and try App World just over the mobile network.

Edit... so I see netquin is an antivirus for BlackBerry, which you really don't need because there are no known viruses for BB.
I'm betting netquin is the problem. Where did you download it from? When I search App World for it on my device, it says no results found. Are you sure it's compatible with your device and your location?
I would recommend BlackBerry Protect over any third party security app.

I downloaded netqin from appworld directly. Don't have it now though after the security wipe. I had called up the customer service people and like most of you said, I do need BIS to activate appworld. And now the interesting part is that because I told those guys that I used appworld without any internet package activated I now have to pay for 6 months of usage.

The reason I went behind other 3rd party anti virus was because my app memory was falling below 5 mb even when I had only whatsapp, google maps and a flashlight app. I had only english language installed on my device. After 2 3 rounds of hardcore battery pulls and wipes, that app memory stopped going down. Also my screen would go blank without any reason for 10 to 20 seconds. it still does after countless wipes.

Dubdub suggested the answer back on 3/18.

Sorry I kept going on and on. I assumed you had a data plan because it was working before you had the problem. Bad assumption. Lesson learned (again).
