Default Latest OS : Bold 9000 4.6.0.297/4.6.0.166 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.297 (Multilanguage)
This will load to ANY carrier's 9000 model.

Package Version: 4.6.0.297
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.166
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.158
* File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel297_PL4.0.0.158_A4.6.0.166_AMX.e xe
* File size: 93.44MB

Download MultiLanguage version here (from Telcel):
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...469ACAE337D292

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.6 installed. Older versions will load the OS but may not be full compatible with all the memory of the Bold. You can get DM 4.6 here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

40KB/sec - what in heaven's name do RIM have connected to their download servers, a bunch of 56k modems?

I think the thread title needs to be .166 not .158, but yes it should be newer I believe.

Sorry for the confusion. The title of the thread shows 4.6.0.297/4.6.0.158. Those numbers are the Package Version and then the Software Platform version. The Application Version for this bundle is 4.6.0.162. So yes, this is the latest official release at present.

The numbers in the title were in keeping with what they have represented in the past. Personally, I do think that the app version is more significant than the platform version.

What if we did package version/platform version/app version in the future?

Jeremy

So the app version I spoke of needs corrected. I got confused because the title changed. It is now close but not correct. The numbers should be 4.6.0.297/4.6.0.166 if we want the app version to be in there.

LOL

Still downloading it, but won't be able to try it until tomorrow because if I do it now I'll have to put up with our helpdesk in the US dealing with the Enterprise Activation rather than the guys in Germany that know what they're doing

Is this the correct place to ask of advantages or changes of this version over the last? 162 works pretty good for me so unless there is some major improvement, I'll stay with it. Don't know if it's too much to ask for improvements to be added under file.

The difference in version numbers of Package/App/Platform between this release and the latest leaked OS is interesting:

Leaked: 298/167/157
Official: 297/166/158

The App Version decreased by 1 and the Platform increased by 1.

Which one will you chose?

Getting 13-14k per second.
I'll pobably stick with 162 and see how others find 166. The former has been fine for me so far...

Perhaps 166 is a "fixed" version of 167 as some had encountered errors with 167? Perhaps something was removed/downgraded to make it 166 rather than 168, but a more stable working version.

my 2 cents for those that are going to use the ATT network. Since it appears to be sensitive I would try the ATT version before chaning since I assume the radio has been set for their sometimes finicky network.
