Default BESAdmin.exe - I run it, it shows in TaskManager but doesn't

Please Login to Remove!

....open anything.

Any ideas. I looked on the Blackberry site and it just says "contact your representative".

I am installing BES v2.3 for Lotus Domino on a Windows 2003 Server. I also installed the Service Pack to put it up to 2.4 but neither works.

It is a fresh installation and have not got very far due to this problem.

Can anyone help. Any ideas???

many thanks in advance

Rob.

Do you mean BES 2.2 SP3? I don't know of any 2.3. You will not be able to launch the BESAdmin on the BES if you are running Domino. You can stop Domino and start it with your ID, you'll be able to do it then. Or install BESadmin on a spearate machine.
This may not be the issue though because usually the BESAdmin will launch if using the server.id, you can admin additional BES, just not the one on the server you run the Admin.

I've dealt with this exact same problem in the past. Do you have anything plugged into the serial port? If you do, in this configuration, BESAdmin will never pull up. In my case, I have an external modem doing faxing. I have to unplug the modem, and stop the faxing services. Once I do that, BESAdmin opens right up. Then I undo everything I did and everything is fine. It is a documented problem in RIM's October known issue list for BES Server for Domino. Hope this helps!

cheers for your replies, yes we do have something in the serial port. I think I will just use besadmin on my desktop pc instead of on the server.

Sorry yes it is 2.2 SP3. I have installed SP5 now to get it as up to date as possible and have managed to open besadmin on my pc so at least I can start working out how to set it all up correctly.

all the best

Rob.

Also, you CAN launch BESAdmin on the same server as Domino. I have had it in this config for 2+ years now.
