Bharti "Zen" Theme Has Changed My Font
Please Login to Remove!
Did the Bharti .284 O/S change on my Rogers 8700r and now my fonts have changed their appearance. The same list of font choices remain, but they all look different.
Does anybody how to restore the original appearance. Mine is not the only 8700r to be afflicted this way.

If you want to restore your OS to the Rogers OS, then uninstall the Bharti software from your PC, download and install the Rogers software to your PC, delete the Vendor.xml file, open Desktop Manager.

Why not use the fonts and adjust them for a day or two before you rush back? Lots of options. I use the Millbank Tall. Fits more words in the same space.

Thanks jibi but I'm not looking to restore my original O/S, just get my original font appearance while still using Bharti Zen.
If this is the price to pay for Zen, then so be it and I'll be happy. Just wondering if this is normal.

Me too.
That said, have you tried turning off anti-aliasing? bold? italics?

I notice this as well, but wasn't sure. Glad to here I am not crazy. I would like to get my old fonts back as well. I have thought about taking the font file from the Rogers load and replacing the one in the Bharti and then re-installing the OS. Not sure if this will work, but I might try on the weekend.

Please let us know how it works out. It is the only downside of Bharti that I can find.

I don't like the new fonts either-- they seem less refined than the original ones. I've tried them all and even though I won't go back, I feel the fonts are less readable overall (typeface, size, style, etc). Its almost like the aspect ratio was changed to something they were not designed for.

Ok now you all have me wondering. Who has an 8700r with these mystic fonts that is willing to post some screen shots using JL_cmdr? Will they pour me a martini?

I had the same problem after upgrading, however, it was a really easy fix. On the 8700c, the default font was BBClarity, 9pt, non-bold. The Bharti OS upgrade changed it to BBMillbank, 9pt, Bold. I changed back to BBClarity, and removed the Bold setting, and it's beautiful once again. I noticed that for some reason, when the bold setting is on, the fonts look as if the antialiasing isn't working too well.

Bharti with original fonts
I have the Rogers 8700r and just installed the Bharti OS but with thefour font files replaced by the original Rogers font files. It worked perfectly; the fonts look the same as they always have.

Further info - and a request
FYI I use BBCasual Bold 10, and it is necessary to turn the anti-aliasing on. When I do that, the font looks as good as always.
For what it is worth, I still think that the Wave Icon theme is the best. The Bharti upgrade is well worth it though - the sound is so much improved, particularly the volume of ringtones.
I like the Vodafone theme too. I just wish I could find a way to choose which applications are in the applications folder. The choices it makes are completely random and not at all useful. If anyone knows a way to customise this, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

Hi What04,
The truth is that I did not get a good install when i first put in the Bharti OS. (I was getting Jav nulpoint exceptions). So I did it again and the second time I went with the original fonts. I do not know if using the Roger fonts was the reason the initial install was not clean (somehow I doubt it) but I cannot recommend a method that I have abandoned.
The font files were somewhere in one of the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion subfolders, but I cannot say exactly where anymore as I no longer have the update application installed. Basically I installed the Rogers update to deskto Manager on my computer, copied the four font files to a temporary folder, unsinstalled the Rogers update, installed the Bharti update, and then replaced the Bharti files with the oroginal Rogers files before installing the update onto my Blackberry. Perhaps it will work for you.
Me, I am sticking with the Bharti OS with its resident fonts which I agree may be a little less clean than the older fonts but with antialiasing they are okay.
