Default Sprint 8703e - Problem with Ringtone when plugging Headset in

Please Login to Remove!

Guys - I need your help on this. Either I'm going crazy or I'm just plain dumb!

I'm pretty good with the tech aspect of things but this has got me stumped.

I previously owned a 7100i and moved to Sprint's 8703e. Happy with the move - but just noticed after a few days that when I have my wired headset plugged into the phone, the Ringtone always plays with a "pre-ringtone" first then plays the actual ringtone (this only when the headset is plugged in).

What I mean is, it plays a small little clip of audio and then continues with whatever ringtone depending on the profile i have it set to. Anyone ever experience this or am I just a BB lover going crazy? Please help, thanks in advance.

ps - Already tried a hard reset (pulled the battery) and still same deal. Ofcourse that was Sprint BB Tech Support's solution. Let me know if anyone needs more of an explanation.

What's the little bit of audio? Is is possibly the "default" ringer and then you get custom ringer for whoever is calling?

Thanks for the response Brad, but no its definitely not a custom ringtone or default ringtone - its not even on ringer list. Only thing that remotely close to it is Notifier Magic (but its definitely not that though). Gotta be one of the weirdest problems. Please reply with suggestions.

Just a quick update. Did a reinstall of the whole OS (latest and greatest) from the sprint website and still no luck. It almost sounds like some type of 'inaudible tone' but ofcourse you can hear it.

This happens on my Sprint BBRY 8703e before every notification or ring. It is three extremely annoying high pitched tones that are known as the "BlackBerry 1" ringer from the 7290 BlackBerry. What upsets me more than anything is that my device does this even when the profile is set to Vibrate only.

I tried 3 different 8703's and they all had this problem. My co-worker who has an 8703e from Verizon does not have this problem.

All of my calls to Sprint have fallen on deaf ears. They need to understand that this is a flaw with their product.
