Default Desktop Manager (any version): Does it ever crash on you?

Please Login to Remove!

I've noticed this from DTM 3.6 - 4.2. After launch of DTM from the desktop icon it appears and then magically dissapears (crashes). Only a reboot solves this. Has anyone ever noticed this themselves on their PC?

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I have had a couple of crashes but it was due to available memory issues; reboot of the PC always worked.

probably your pc. faulty memory can easily make those type of problems, as the second poster experienced.

i find the DTM software to be incredibly good. i was honestly amazed how well it works and how easy it is to use. in fact, ive tried to freeze it by unplugging/replugging in the phone a bunch of times really fast, it doesnt matter. the DTM software is just another perk in the looooong list of good that comes from RIM's blackberry pearl.

Any windows program will crash on a fairly regular basis. It's primarily because the underlying OS is DOS held together with duct tape and binder twine!!!

It's a wonder the darn thing works at al!!

I have had numerous problems with different releases of version 4.1, never was able to solve them. It did seem that it worked much better in XP than in 2000. In XP you can simply start the application again and see if it works, if it crashes in 2000 it is reboot time.

It IS something with the PC but it's definately instigated by the software itself. Something gets corrupt for some reason from time-to-time. Uninstalling it, repairing it, deleting all RIM associated folders and registry entries does not correct the issue as well. You basically have to wipe your PC with a new image to solve this. Another method is renaming your windows profile and logging back in. That seemed to solve it also.

I know i'm not the only one experiencing this as well...

Happens quite frequently on my XP-pro laptop. I just keep re-trying until it works. Has anyone tried the desktop manager SP1 patch from RIM?
