Default JVM 102 Error on TMO 9700 std 5.0.0.330 firmware

Please Login to Remove!

We got a 9700 from T-Mobile on Monday. It has the T-Mobile standard software 5.0.0.330 on it -- and it has worked fine for 3 days.

The only extra software we've added is Google Maps 3.0.2 and the experimental version of BB_Weather. Although US English is the standard input language, we've added support for French, German, and Spanish.

This morning we started getting JVM 102 errors. Using JL_Cmder 1.9.1, I've downloaded the event log, but I'm not sure about which file might be the offending one.

Is it the timezoneotapatcher, net_rim_bb_vvm_help__de, or net_rim_bb_qm_icq_resource_fr? Or something else?

Dang!

I tried deleting "net_rim_bb_qm_icq_resource_fr" and "net_rim_bb_vvm_help__de" and the Javaloader confirmed their deletion. On reboot, however, the Blackberry data is wiped. Good thing the backup/ transfer file is only a few days old (and this is a BES Blackberry).

Delete the BB_Weather. Pull the battery on the BB for a minute or so. Reinstall and let it reboot.

You can also use our SEARCH function and search on JVM102. There are several threads about it.

Thanks -- I'd searched for "JVM 102" without luck.

Is it all versions of BBweather or only the experimental version that are the problem?

If you are on BES, you probably need to talk to the BES Admin and see what the OT Policy allows. That could be the problem.

I have no idea on which version. You delete one thing at a time to try to figure out the problem That was the logical place to start. Did it fix it?

Are you sure you searched? This is the first one of several that popped up:

I didn't trust the relevance of anything as old as 2006. I used the information in http://supportforums.blackberry.com/...STEM/m-p/92398 as my guide for removing potentially offending cod files.

Anyone have a copy of the official TMO 5.0.0.330 Handheld OS?

I've cleared the old software and put 5.0.0.344 on, then added the data back from the most recent backup. Guided by RIM support, I didn't load "timezoneotapatcher" or ICQ.

I'm having trouble getting a UMA connection with 544, but that's the subject of another thread.

Look at the yellow sticky at the top of the 9700 section. That is the latest OS that we know about.

As for 2006 info, JVM 102 is JVM 102, no matter what year it is.

Understood. But that just tells me that some cod file is corrupted, not which one.

So I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences with a 9700 having a JVM 102 error, esp if it involves Google Maps, BB Weather, timezoneotapatcher, or the like.

PS: Yes, the sticky with the latest OS 5.0.0.344 was very helpful -- although it's giving some trouble on UMA connections.

Is the device a TMO phone? It has to be a TMO device for UMA to work. The OS won't make it work.

Yes, it is a TMO phone. New from TMO on Monday with the 5.0.0.330 software on it. UMA worked with that OS version.

It now has 5.0.0.344 software. I'm tempted to try the 5.0.0.351 beta.

If I could find a copy of the TMO official 5.0.0.330 software, I would put it back on the device (no, as of a few minutes ago, it was not on the Unsupported Browser web page).

If you'd like to download the original .330 software that came preloaded, you can get it here:

DeviceDownloads

It's the official T-Mo site, but they don't have it listed on the search pages yet.

Thank you.

I couldn't find it. T-Mobile customer service sent me to RIM support, and they couldn't find it either.
