Default TIP: Before you open the Bold box... A free screen protector

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

You know the plastic that covers the Bold screen when someone unboxes a Bold? The plastic is actually high quality and very clear, higher quality than many screen protectors I've seen.

I decided to turn that one into an integrated screen protector. I removed the tab by carefully peeled the top partially, using a tailor's scissors to cut the tab off, and then I carefully flattened it back. Absolutely no air bubbles and no peeling of edges caused by friction rubbing in my holster, it seems to have been a better-than-expected temporary screen protector (still waiting for my real screen protectors to arrive) to the point where I'll be keeping this one on.

Now I just need a silicone case, to protect my Bold from its inevitable first drop to asphalt. :-/

I did the same thing but used a utility knife to cut off the tab on top. If this goes, I'll replace it but there's no point getting rid of the factory one to put on another.

Great Low Tech Tip!!

I tend to use this with my previous phones, but usually they peal off within 2 days. Don't drop it without that silicon border case.

Is the screen on the bold more scratchable that the screens on my curve or 8820? I hope not as I hate these stick on protectors and hope to not use one. I have been lucky and never scratched my screen.

The included screen protector is so shiny and smooth, that it feels like glass -- as if there was no screen protector, and there's no dust stuck underneath because it was applied at the factory.

I've had it all weekend, and it hasn't even begun peeling off yet.

i originally did the same thing when i got my FIRST bold and had no issues..

until the device went bonkers, and had to get it replaced.. the replacement unit(new box, not a refurb) has a piece of DIRT under the screen protector film and i wasnt able to use this as a screen protector because of the 2 dirt particles underneath... and by particles.. i mean significant sized flakes

QA disaster..

Used mine as well, until a yesterday. Had it on a good week or so. Couldn't wait for the exact bold screen protector, so I had a makeshift HTC type screen saver and the dude that sold it to me cut and shaped it to fit my BOLD. Did a good job indeed. Am very happy now. Have a very good screen protector... :D

I cut the tab off mine with a craft knife. Had the phone for over a wek and the protector looks new. It really hard to tell that there is a screen protector on.

I had mine for about a day, I don't agree with the quality and durability of it, it got scratched pretty easily.

I have deployed about 15 of them at work and 4-5 of them came in with lots of bubbles underneath the protector.
